Sonata for Flute and PIano, Mvt. IV // Cesar Franck

Quick Bio:

Donald Rabin is a freelance interdisciplinary artist active in Missouri, Texas, and Massachusetts. A versatile and engaging performer, his playing has been featured on Fox News Good Morning Chicago, CBS Chicago, WGN Radio, and on the soundtrack for NBC’s documentary SkyBlossom. He served as a Houston Symphony Community-Embedded Fellow and Boston Symphony Collegiate Ambassador, igniting his commitment to community engagement.

 

He currently performs for patients at Barnes Jewish Hospital as an Arts and Health Practitioner with an emphasis on music. Previously, through collaborations with the Periwinkle Foundation and the Houston Symphony, he performs for patients at Texas Children’s Hospital and Purple Songs, bringing live music into healthcare spaces. He has appeared with the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, Texas Symphonic Ballet, New England Philharmonic, Missouri Symphony, Cartago Band of Costa Rica, and the St. Louis Video Game Orchestra, among others. Recent engagements include St. Louis Philharmonic, Convergence Research Artist at the Blaffer Art Museum, performing with Houston Grand Opera in Madama Butterfly, and will take the national stage for the National Flute Association 2026 Convention in Portland, OR.

 

Beyond performance, Rabin is an arts leader and advocate. As Project Manager for Come Together Houston, he was featured in the Houston Arts Journal and at the CDC Foundation Museum (a Smithsonian Institution affiliate). He was named the University of Houston’s inaugural Arts and Health Fellow and elected President of the Graduate Professional Student Association. He currently serves as Interim Vice-President for the Flute Society of Saint Louis, Communications and Development Director for FLOOT FIRE INC., and Staging Manager for the National Flute Association. He has also started an interdisciplinary All-State Preparation program known as Flute-A-Thom where he serves as Director.

A former Mitchell Center Fellow, Rabin’s work centers on interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative performance experiences. His artistic curiosity continues to shape his work as a performer, educator, and creative leader.
